Synonyms in Word and, maybe, PowerPoint for the web

Word and PowerPoint online, the browser versions, now have the same Synonyms feature that’s in the Windows and Mac releases.

Synonyms helps you vary your vocabulary by suggesting alternative (different, substitute, other ) words.

If you’ve used Synonyms in Office for Windows or Mac, there’ll be no surprises in the browser version.

Right-click on a word then choose Synonyms,

That opens a side-pane with synonyms.  Click on any synonym to see a definition.

The speaker icon can be clicked to hear the word spoken.

There’s more …

Scroll down the pane and click ‘Show more definitions’ to see some more features.

PowerPoint?

According to Microsoft, Powerpoint on the web also has Synonyms since late November 2020. However, we’ve not seen it and Microsoft’s own announcement only has images from Word on the web.

Presumably Synonyms will appear in PowerPoint on the web sometime.
