How World Map 🗺 looks in different fonts.
This symbol can look VERY different depending on the operating system or font used. For Windows, Segoe UI Emoji font’s version of World Map is pretty lame. At least the Segoe UI Symbol’s World Map is recognizable. As usual, the Apple Color Emoji symbol is much nicer.

Use the standard Word Alt + X symbol shortcut 1f5fA then Alt + X
Once in a document you can copy it to AutoCorrect and make your own shortcut.
Office Icons
A quick alternative to the World Map symbol is the Microsoft Stock Icons. Insert | Icons then search for ‘Map’

The Windows 11/10 Emoji Panel has the World Map 🗺 character. Use Win + . (period/fullstop) to open the panel then search for ‘Map’.

MacOS and Office for Mac inserting characters
On a Mac, to enter the World Map 🗺 symbol:
Command + Control + Spacebarshortcut to open the Character Viewer.- Search for “ World Map “ or just “ Map “ and the Viewer should find the symbol you need.
Despite the name Character Viewer, the Apple system tool will also insert characters into any program, including Office for Mac.
