Office Insiders will get a nasty Copilot shock when they start a new document in Word 365. Microsoft has gone ‘over the top’ in their latest effort to push Copilot.
The latest Insiders release of Word 365 with a paid Copilot plan has this when a new blank document is started.
Talk about unsubtle. Not content with a few prompts or suggestions, there’s this huge introduction.
Microsoft is trying to sell Copilot to people who have already bought it.
It’s not even obvious how to get rid it and get back the blank page. There are two ways to abate this nuisance:
- Under the ‘three dots’ is ‘Close Copilot’, see above.
- Just start typing and Word will take the hint and remove the Copilot junk.
For heaven’s sake Microsoft, we know you love Copilot. And there’s a place for reminding people of how Copilot can be used to start a document.
But there’s no need for such large hints and there should be an obvious visible way to remove the prompts both as a one-off or permanently.
