Saving Outlook messages to PDF

Here’s how to save an Outlook message or other item to PDF.

Use this to save copies of important or reference emails like airplane bookings, hotel reservations etc.

After all Microsoft’s talk about PDF support in Office, it’s disappointing to realize that you can’t Save As … from Outlook to the PDF format.  There are other formats available but none as useful or portable as PDF.

Word, Excel and PowerPoint let you save documents to PDF but not Outlook.

The workaround is to use a ‘Print to PDF’ option in Windows.  This has been available in Windows for years via 3rd party tools. In Windows 10, Microsoft includes a ‘Microsoft Print to PDF’ option.

Select the Outlook message or item, choose Print then select the ‘Print to PDF’ option.  Choose the folder and file name and you’re done!
