If you like to jazz up your Zoom, Teams or other presentations, try out mmhmm .  It looks like an interesting tool you might like to try out over the break.

mmhmm lets you create an online presentation for live broadcast or recording with many effects combined.  Here’s an example with slides/images in a box, a virtual background and the presenter.

We’re interested in the possibility of combining PowerPoint slides (as inserts like above) with the presenter.

Download from here and there’s a good User Manual and ‘New to …’ guide starting here.

mmhmm is free for presentations up to 60 minutes. There’s a premium tools option for US$9.99 a month with a seven day trial.

Compatibility

mmhmm works with Zoom, Google Meet, Facebook Messenger and other apps directly.

Teams, Skype, Webex and others work via the web browser interface but not the apps.

Check out their compatibility page for details.

Beta software

mmhmm is for Mac and Windows desktop.  The Mac software seems to be more advanced than its Windows sister … which is a nice reversal of the usual situation (cough Microsoft Office!).

mmhmm for Mac is beta software available now from here.

The Windows version is a private beta – apply to join the test here.

When you start mmhmm it starts with a seven day trial of Premium features and no way to turn those premium options off.  Be careful that you don’t rely on the paid features that won’t be available after the first week.

Give mmHmm a try and let us know what you think.
