Index, Backhand or Sideways?
The Unicode system has various pointing hand options:
- Index – a pointing index finger with palm facing.
- Backhand Index – pointing index finger with back of hand showing.
- Sideways Index – a side view of a pointing hand.
White or Black?
There are two variations for each of these symbols.
- White – could be called ‘Outline’,
- Black – could be called ‘Filled in’.
It’s easier to see the difference between ‘white’ and ‘black’ if the color is changed and especially with a different background.
With ‘White’ symbols only the outline changes color, the rest is transparent and shows the background color. The ‘black’ symbols can be any color you choose.
Right pointing hands are good for signs or a creative bullet list pointer.
