Soon people will be able to RSVP to an event or meeting and say whether they’ll be attending in the old fashioned way (aka “face to face”) or virtually.
Look for an ‘in-person’ event option to appear just above the location line.
An event can also be a Teams meeting, making it what Microsoft calls a ‘hybrid’ meeting.
RSVP in-person or virtually
Instead of a simple ‘Yes’ RSVP there are three choices:
- Yes, in person
- Yes, virtually
- Yes
The third option is there for anyone who doesn’t want to disclose how they’ll turn up or doesn’t know yet.
Responses
Naturally, the tracking / responses list will show attendees and how they intend to appear.
The “Yes” list isn’t separated into in-person/virtual so you’ll have to manually count the ‘in-person’ attendees to figure out how many chairs and coffee cups you’ll need.
This is coming to Outlook on the web and Outlook (new) in ‘late March’ so hopefully very soon.
No word on availability on Outlook for Mac or mobile.
Almost no chance of this feature appearing in the current/classic Outlook for Windows.
New Outlook does NOT block Exchange Server mailboxes
