Even older Works qualifies for Office 2007 upgrade pricing

Wanna save some serious money buying Office 2007? then look in your old software, chances are you’ll have a qualifying licence.

Office 2007 has broadened the range of products that qualify for the lower upgrade pricing – to the point where most people should qualify.

In recent years you’ve needed some variant on the last two versions of Office, but for Office 2003 it’s been extended back to Office 2000 as well.  The Office 2007 upgrade qualification list is:

  • Office 2000 licensed users (as well as Office 2003 and Office XP) users qualify for the Office 2007 upgrade pricing.

  • Any individual Office program (Word, Excel etc) from Office 2000, Office XP or Office 2003 will qualify

  • Microsoft Works suite versions 2000 to 2006 will qualify

  • Microsoft Works users (versions 6 to 10) will qualify
  • What’s really interesting is that plain old Works is on the list, way back to Works 6 which is around 5-6 years old.  Works has a basic word-processor, spreadsheet etc.

Works is usually supplied with a new computer but is often ignored because people install Microsoft Office.  Chances are you’ll have a copy of Works in the disks and paperwork that came with your new computer and is gathering dust somewhere.

Find that Works disk and you’re set to pay less for Office 2007.

Failing that, if you can legitimately buy Works or Works Suite for a few dollars from a garage/boot/trunk sale, computer fair or Ebay then you’re in business.

With upgrade saving of around US$160 it’s worth digging out that old copy of Works.
