My Little Pony, those toys for little girls, are in a legal dispute over a font.
TorrentFreak is reporting that Hasbro, owners of My Little Pony are being sued over the unauthorized use of a font.
We all use fonts in our documents and presentations, but managers need to consider the font licensing issues if the use is going to be widespread, commercial or public.
Font Brothers have the rights to sell GenerationB, described as “a playful and offbeat font with a late 50s-early 60s vibe that goes from beatnik coffeehouse to rustic beach shack.”.

Hasbro is accused of using the font and refusing to pay for a licence. The use is clear from this image from their web site and especially the web code that creates the page.

Hasbro has now changed their web code to remove the offending font from http://mylittlepony.hasbro.com/css/spring2016.css but it’s too late since there’s plenty of evidence of the previous CSS that clearly linked to GenerationB.

Interestingly, the other font listed in the CSS, Chalkduster, is owned by Apple. It’s included in the Mac OS X operating system. Has Hasbro licenced Chalkduster for commercial use? The general opinion seems to be that Chalkduster has been released for free use, but we can’t find anything to confirm that.
