Here’s a download of the standard but blank Warning Triangle graphic and image ready for Word and PowerPoint.
We’ll look at the official warning sign specification as a starting point, then we’ll look at variations based on that. In other words, symbols that look a bit like a warning sign, but different.
The official ISO 7010 specification for a Warning symbol is a equilateral triangle with rounded corners.
We’re looking for a ‘blank’ version as an SVG that we can add a symbol to.
Curiously, we could not find exactly what we wanted for our readers. Plenty of similar triangles but not fully correct. The alternatives had sharp corners, incorrect borders, wrong format and other ‘picks of nits’.
It’s a little surprising that Office Shapes don’t have a rounded corner triangle. There are isosceles and right-angle triangles with sharp corners, see for yourself at Insert | Illustrations | Shapes.
We took the above SVG graphic from Wikipedia, opened it up and removed the exclamation mark. The result is a high-quality Warning symbol, exactly correct with the right colors, borders, rounded corners etc.
The blank Warning Symbol, as shown above, is available for all Office Watch readers.
Office 365 / Office 2019: the SVG version is best –download SVG here.
Office 2016 and earlier: this large PNG version is compatible. Resize down to suit. download PNG here.

What to do with a blank warning symbol?
Now we’ve all got the basics, it’s time to play.
Add / overlay the biohazard symbol see Biohazard symbol for Word, PowerPoint and more.
Insert the symbol, change the text wrapping to ‘in front of text’ then move it over the triangle.
Because the symbol is a separate graphic to the warning triangle, there are many options for changing the contents.
These three examples recolor (left), recolor and add Glow effect (middle), change Graphics Outline of the symbol (right).
Add whatever graphic and effects you like.
